On October 23rd, the Department of Chemical Engineering organized a remarkable event – “Showcasing of Entrepreneurial Skills” under the collaborative efforts of the Department of Chemical Engineering, TAKEUP Project, and AIChe society. The students of 7th-semester of Chemical Engineering at Comsats University, Lahore participated in a poster competition that showcased their entrepreneurial ideas and innovative products. To make this competition a success, students were guided and mentored by Dr. Imran Hassan Naqvi and Dr. Shahzad Khurram, who are Associate Professors in the Chemical Engineering Department and members of the TAKEUP Project team. Dr. Ahmed Farooqui, the Coordinator of TAKEUP project, also attended the event and appreciated the hard work of the students. It’s always great to see educators and mentors supporting students’ endeavors.
At the end of the event, the students were given certificates to recognize their efforts. The evaluation committee carefully judged and selected the top three groups among all the participants. Certificates were distributed by the guest of honor Prof. Dr. Asad Hussain, the Director of the COMSATS University Lahore Campus. His presence made the event even more special, and it motivated the students to do their best.
But this event was about more than just winning and getting certificates. It showed that the students studying Chemical Engineering have a lot of talent for starting their own businesses. It also highlighted one of the main goals of the TAKEUP Project, which is to help students learn by doing practical things and being innovative.
